Toppings

Perfect toppings
The use of toppings is one unique characteristic of Urban/Soup. Their perfect quality and correct preparation is an essential responsibility of our team.
We distinguish between the following four categories: spices & herbs, nuts & flakes, perishable, and critical. Each topping is either refilled or requires a certain preparation process as explained below. An overview of all maximum use times can be found under the section “Perfect Quality”.
Spices & Herbs
Spices and Herbs only need to be refilled when empty. We always check the best before date on the packaging.
Example toppings: parsley, nutmeg, thyme, chili, fennel, cumin, curry.
Nuts & Flakes
Nuts & Flakes are usually cut into a perfect drinking size and/or baked in the oven for more roasted flavors. Once again, the best before date is to be checked before usage.
Example toppings: pine nuts (roasted), coconut flakes (roasted), macadamia nuts, almonds.
Perishable
Lemon juice, olives, dates – these are perishable toppings that need to be cooled while used. After being opened, each topping has an individual maximum use time. We always write down the date of expiration on the GNs.
Critical
Critical toppings only last for a few days and always need to be fresh. They are also marked with date and time of expiration. In order to create zero waste, we prepare them last minute.
